SWEDISH CRAFTSMANSHIP since 1942

Shaped by hand.
Made to be
collected.

Every figurine is pressed in a mould, retouched, fired and painted one at a time in our workshop in Halmstad, Sweden. Something to collect. Something to give away.

A gnome girl and a gnome boy reading books

From the Gnome Family from the Big Forest

Families to collect.

The Gnome Family

A collection that grows, year by year.

Lucia

Lucia, her maids and the star boys.

Gingerbread Figurines

An old man and an old woman, with fair or dark hair.

From clay to family member

It starts in our hands.

Every figurine is pressed, retouched and painted by hand in our workshop in Halmstad, with moulds that only grow in number.

01

Pressed in a mould

The clay is pressed by hand into plaster moulds, one figurine at a time.

02

Retouched and fired

Each figurine is retouched before it is dried and fired in the kiln.

03

Painted by hand

Every apron, every cap. That is why no two figurines are alike.

1942

Three generations, one craft.

What began as Irma and Henry Yourstone’s pottery workshop in Huddinge still shapes the business, with the same care.

  • 1942
Irma and Henry start the workshop in Huddinge, near Stockholm.
  • 1959
The Yourstone family moves to Halmstad and starts Lerlaxen.
  • 1985
Bengt Yourstone takes over the business.
  • Today
Bengt runs the business with help from the third generation.

Greetings from collectors.

The little one with a bird in her hand and the baby sitting so nice … the figures Jenna chose were perfect.

It was very interesting to read about your family history.

I got my first gnomes in the mid-80s and look for new ones every year.
